What to Expect: A Day on the Tahoe Via Ferrata
A day on the Tahoe Via Ferrata begins and ends at our offices in the Village at Palisades Tahoe. You’ll arrive at your scheduled start time to grab a few pieces of gear and meet your climbing guide.
The Beast
Within 30 minutes you’ll be hopping in our 4×4 Vehicle, “The Beast” to get a short open-air shuttle ride to the start of the routes. Once at the bottom of the Via Ferrata your guide will go through an informational review on how to use the cable system while climbing.
Time to Climb!
After the short instructional talk it’s time to climb! You’ll launch on to one of the two available routes with your guide leading the way. Both routes wind their way up the 500′ granite rock pinnacle that makes up the iconic Tram Face. Climbing through monkey bridges and over beautiful spires, you’ll eventually reach the top of the route in about 2 hours ending at the first Tram tower.
Tram Ridge Hike
From the tram tower you’ll begin to descend on a single track hiking trail along the spine of the ridge that makes up what we call Tram Ridge. To your right you’ll be greeted with expansive views of Shirley Canyon, while to your left you’ll be walking by beautifully weathered granite blocks.
